First network aimed at a black audience - Will you Bounce to it?

The first broadcast network, Bounce, aimed at African Americans is set to debut Fall 2011.

With a logo of 'TV That Moves You', will you Bounce to it?

According to the network's press release, the network will "target African Americans primarily between the ages of 25-54 with a programming mix of theatrical motion pictures, live sporting events, documentaries, specials, inspirational faith-based programs, off-net series, original programming and more."

It seems like the US media conglomerate is finally paying attention to African Americans. Over the past 20 years, Black programming disappeared from mainstream networks. Whenever the absence of programming towards African Americans was voiced, BET was quickly brought up as though it were enough. I look forward to what the network will offer Black audiences.

Bounce TV is currently acquiring movie and programming rights from Sony, NBC, Codeblack Entertainment, and Image Entertainment.

Programming is expected to air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with sports and live events covered.

Bounce TV’s Founding Group is led by Ambassador Andrew Young, Martin Luther King III and Andrew “Bo” Young III. Additionally, Rob Hardy will serve as Chief Content Officer and Will Packer will be Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer. Hardy and Packer are co-founders of Rainforest Films. According to their press release, "Bounce TV will be majority owned and operated by African Americans, with Ambassador Young, Andrew “Bo” Young III, Rob Hardy, Will Packer and Ryan Glover part of the initial ownership team."

Stay tuned to Qalil and we will bring you the latest on Bounce TV!
