0 Diet Coke for Toddlers (Oh Hell NAW!!!!)

Dear Shay,

My sister gives her toddlers diet coke all day long. When I tell her maybe you shouldn’t because I watched a report on how bad that stuff is for you, she got angry with me. I know it’s none of my business but I hate seeing my nephews drinking it. What should I do?

Ro

Dear Ro,

Let me start off by saying, I am glad that you care enough to bring this to light. Thank you for this question. Now on with it!

DIET COKE for TODDLERS...ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! *Deep breath - goin' to my happy place...wooosaaah*

Like Bernie Mac would have said, next time you run into your sister, you gonna bust her head til the white meat show, there's gonna be some furniture movin' up in that motha..... (J/P)

You got one of two options. You can get the information on the report from online and bring it to her and never mention it again. Or you can stay out of her business if that's what she wants! You can't save the children from their mother if she chooses to not educate herself on the harm that consuming diet coke can do to growing children. You can only control your own actions; so the next time the kids are over at your house, just make sure you give them healthy drinks and snacks. Don't try to be a hero.

Tell yo sister to get her act right or just let her do what she is gonna do, in both cases, remember you can't change the actions of others unless they are open to it.

0 Shay D. Korner: How do I figure out my life?

Berkely.edu
Dear Shay,
My parents always taught us to work hard and be productive members of society and as a result my older sisters and I have flourished in school and done well (we have no brothers). My older sisters seem to be really focussed and knew exactly what they wanted to do when they got to College by the time they were in Middle School. I'm now a sophomore in High School and I still do not know what I want to major in when I get to College. I'm okay with it, but my parents and my sisters are concerned about it and they voice their opinion whenever the topic comes up. What should I do? How do I figure out what to do for college?

StillInHighSchool

Dear Still in High School,
It is very normal to not have a clear direction in your future academic aspirations. It is not a sign that you are lacking the ability to find something, what it means is that you are different from your sisters. You have a different way of coming to your own decisions. As long as you have not found something you are passionate about, you have every right to wait to make that decision. What you should ask yourself is, what interests you the most, what are you good at, etc. If you are still unable to reach an answer, you should visit your school's career counselor, there are so many careers that we don't know about until we become a part of the workforce. You can also look up different careers on google based on your interests and your abilities. As for your family showing concern regarding this issue, explain to them that you are trying to find your path, but it can't be forced. We all have a responsibility to ourselves first and then to others in our lives and society. Get yo act right and start volunteerin' or sumthin'!

0 Shay D. Korner: So he ain't like he used to be!

123RF

Dear Shay,
Several weeks ago, my live-in boyfriend began acting weird towards me. He would not answer my questions and seemed to get annoyed every time I told him that I loved him. His behavior has made me anxious about our relationship and the precarious situation I now find myself in. We have been trying to have a child and our family doctor suggested that I stop my strenuous work so I have not been contributing to the household income. We are not married and have not been together long enough for the relationship to be considered Common Law Marriage. How do I protect myself in case this is the beginning of the end?

Worried.

Dear Worried,

What da heck kinda name is Worried? Anyways, on to yo mess of a being. You got only 2 options, You either marry the man or get your own damn life back! What do you mean you quit your job to try to have a baby with a man you aren't even married to yet. I mean really!!! Are you serious? Get yo act right, get a job, be your own woman. Look for a less strenuous job, better yet, why don't you enjoy your blessings that you are without children now and you may be finding out this man isn't really the one for you? I don't think you are looking for any answers, but in case you are, those are all the answers I got for ya. Keep ya chin up, get back on yo grind and maybe he will find you interesting once again!

0 Shay D. Korner: Pregnant Again?!

Dear Shay
I gave birth to a beautiful daughter at the end of November in 2010. Last week I found out I am pregnant again. Is it possible that my husband got me pregnant while I was still pregnant with my daughter? I thought there was a time period after birth that I was naturally unable to get pregnant. Please help.

PregnantAgain

Dear Pregnant again,

Please help with what exactly? You seem to be doing all the helping your self! You should ask your OB-GYN why it is you are pregnant again, but I am guessing it's because you had sex with your husband after you had your daughter without using any method of birth control. Then again, that would be stating the damn obvious, now wouldn't it?  Next time, don't assume anything about a period of time when you are unable to get pregnant or you will be writing me another question in a few months.  Get yo act right and educate yourself on your body and its functions before you bring a brood of kids into the world just to have your assumptions be corrected!

0 Shay D. Korner: Stick with Possibly Gay Boyfriend?

Dear Shay,
I recently met a man who I have fallen in love with. Mr. B. There is only one problem, a big one, I think he is gay. We enjoy each others' company immensely and have even engaged in a few intimate encounters that did not result in sex. I cannot introduce him to my family because I know they would make fun of him and not tolerate his eccentricities. On Monday, my maternal uncle asked if I was single and I said yes, he proceeded to introduce me to a young gentleman, Mr. F, and we hit it off right away. I do not want to let go of Mr. B, but if there is no future with him I can't let Mr. F go. What should I do?

Ellie from NY.

Dear Ellie from NY,

Can you explain to me how you recently met someone and are already in love with them? Better yet, why are you labeling the man? If you think he is gay, ask him! Are you hoping he is gay so you can hook up with Mr. F? And how is it that you claim to love one man and quickly claim to be single when someone asks you if you are available to meet someone new?  Just be real and admit that you can't tolerate his eccentricities and you make fun of him in your head....*SMDH, tryin' to pin it on yo family!* The only thing you seem to love is the idea that you can have many men and create non-existent turmoil in your life.  You are just looking for the kind of man that wants to have sex on the first date and doesn't return your calls.  Just cause a man shows some regard and restraint in your intimate relations, he gotta be gay???? Get yo act right and get real.
